Direct rule of Northern Ireland by the London Parliament came to an end when power was devolved to the Northern Ireland Assembly, North-South Ministerial Council and the British-Irish Council when the Good Friday Agreement came into effect on 2nd December 1999. In 2014, it will have been in operation for 15 years. This book is a tribute to the people who worked towards this agreement and to those who continue to develop and fashion a non violent unity of nations that will peacefully endure and that all incumbent communities acknowledge and accept.

This book is also in tribute to the Irish writer Frank McCourt one of the Top 100 Best Selling authors of the early 21st century. He wrote vociferously and honestly, with sincerity and pride, despite the challenges, objections and difficulties. While I may not agree with anti-English messages, if an author is allowed the freedom to relate an opinion, the enduring quest for freedom of speech is progressed. Though this only materialises once all communities have their voice welcomed and heard.
